Richardson’s Farm has been milking cows every day for over 300 years! Today the farm has over 400 animals, mostly cows. Recently they have been working to update the farm and facilities to prepare for the next generation of farmers. One can imagine with all those animals they need a lot of food, hay in particular. They came to us to help create a modern hay barn that would fit in with the tradition of the farm. From a distance, the barn would appear to be a very traditional New England barn complete with ventilators and large rolling doors. The frame is a modern hybrid of a timber frame structure and the exterior is steel panels that give the appearance of vertical ‘board and batten’ seen on many barns. With ample space for hay and tractors, the barn will provide for the farm for another 300 years and the cows could not be happier!
