For this renovation and addition to a Colonial Revival home, Benjamin Nutter Architects provided design improvements to enhance the lifestyle of the clients. The architects made the kitchen more inviting by reconfiguring the layout, adding a grand island, and directly connecting the kitchen to an informal eating area. In addition to the kitchen improvements, a new walk-through Butler’s pantry and improved covered porch entry and mud room were configured. The spacious covered porch entry now invites guests more gracefully into the home. Cabinet and fireplace details were added to the family room that is adjacent to the kitchen. A small den provides a retreat from the main living spaces. All of these design changes enhance the lifestyle of an active 21st century family.
