Project Description

Jay and Melissa wanted to preserve the property that had been in Jay’s family for generations. The existing building was in disrepair and served as a practice studio for Jay’s band, “House of Jack”. Wanting a new home that will span the next generation, their goal was to create an energy efficient legacy. The resulting design challenge was to blend modern technology and comforts with a traditionally inspired home. Custom exterior insulation panels, energy efficient windows and high efficiency mechanical systems maintain a comfortable environment inside. The design features a Chef inspired kitchen, his and hers home offices and plenty of space for family gatherings. The home was situated to preserve site features from generations past, including an old greenhouse foundation that is now a garden. Solar orientation and distant views were instrumental in the design. The home was featured in North Shore Magazine’s March 2014 issue.
