What could be more exciting than finding valuable hidden treasure? The renovation of the Kennedy Gallery storefront enjoyed such a moment. As the carpenters began to remove the 1960 vintage brick façade, they discovered the original 1883 decorative, cast iron columns. These historic treasures became the catalyst for a renovation that returned the street level to the flavor of its original design. Sometimes restraint is the best method when designing. Taking their cues from the uncovered existing columns and images of the original structure, Benjamin Nutter Architects applied a delicate hand in the detailing of the new façade. In this story, everyone enjoys the bounty of the hidden treasure.
